Mr. Reid graduated in 2001 from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with degrees in geological engineering and geology. In 2002, Mr. Reid relocated to California and began working for Upp Geotechnology. While working full-time, Mr. Reid earned a masters degree in geotechnical engineering from San Jose State University. Since moving to California, Mr. Reid has become licensed as a California Professional Geologist, Engineering Geologist, Civil Engineer, and Geotechnical Engineer. In 2011, Mr. Reid and his business partner, Mr. Christopher Hundemer, began C2Earth, Inc., and soon after acquired Upp Geotechnology.
Since the early 2000's, Mr. Reid has performed a variety of engineering geologic and geotechnical engineering studies within the greater San Francisco Bay Area and beyond. His project experience includes: engineering geologic and geotechnical site characterizations, landslide evaluations, liquefaction analyses, groundwater level determinations, fault location and seismic hazard assessments, and construction-related geotechnical and engineering geologic evaluations. More specifically, he has extensive experience assessing site geologic conditions and providing engineering mitigation measures for properties affected by landslides or earth movement. His primary responsibilities include: planning and management of geologic and geotechnical engineering evaluations, collaborating with the project design team, and supervising our staff of geologists and engineers during the course of construction for the purpose of successfully completing our clients' projects.
Aside from his professional accomplishments, Mr. Reid has earned a private pilot license and enjoys observing earth processes from above. Mr. Reid also enjoys snowboarding, soccer, hiking, and the great outdoors. He also coaches soccer.
Mr. Hundemer graduated in 1996 from U.C. Santa Cruz with a double major in Earth Sciences and Economics, and earned a masters degree in Earth Sciences from U.C. Santa Cruz in 1998. Mr. Hundemer worked for one year on a contract employment for the Santa Clara Valley Water District, then began his career in geologic and geotechnical engineering consulting in 1999. While working full-time, Mr. Hundemer earned a second masters degree in geotechnical engineering from San Jose State University. Mr. Hundemer is licensed as a California Professional Geologist, Certified Engineering Geologist, Certified Hydrogeologist, Civil Engineer, and Geotechnical Engineer. In 2011, Mr. Hundemer and his business partner, Mr. Craig Reid, began C2Earth, Inc., and soon after acquired Upp Geotechnology.
Since the late 1990's, Mr. Hundemer has performed a variety of geologic and geotechnical engineering studies in the greater San Francisco and Monterey Bay areas, Southern California, Montana, and has consulted for international projects. His project experience includes: geologic and geotechnical site characterization for new construction and distressed properties, landslide studies; fault location and seismic hazard assessments, forensic litigation support, and construction-related geotechnical assessments. His typical responsibilities include the planning and management of geologic and geotechnical engineering investigations, collaborating with project engineers, design team members, and reviewing agencies, being a lead investigator for distressed properties or geologic hazard impacted sites, performing research and providing expert opinions and testimony, and the supervision of our staff of geologists and engineers during the study or construction phases of a project.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Mr. Hundemer assists the California Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists with creating and scoring Professional Geologist and Certified Engineering Geologist licensure exams. Mr. Hundemer enjoys traveling with his family, camping, snowboarding, restoring vintage cars (his current project is the complete restoration of a 1963 Dodge Polara 500), playing golf, and coaching little league baseball for his two sons.
Originally from Dallas, Texas, Mr. Kiefer has been living in the Bay Area since 2010. He received his degree in geology from San Jose State University in 2016 where he focused his studies in the fields of tectonic geomorphology and engineering geology. Mr. Kiefer gained valuable field mapping experience during his time as an undergraduate research assistant working in areas such as the Walker Lane and Anza Borrego Desert. Mr. Kiefer also has worked in laboratories at Stanford University and the United States Geological Survey (USGS) processing cosmogenic radionuclides for surface exposure dating. In February 2017, Mr. Kiefer joined C2Earth, Inc. Since that time, Mr. Kiefer has assisted with numerous projects ranging in size and level of difficulty. Specifically, he enjoys working on projects that include seismic hazard evaluations. Mr. Kiefer has well developed geological and engineering intuition the makes him a valuable asset to any project that he is a part of. When not working, Mr. Kiefer enjoys playing golf, cooking, and volunteering.
Originally a bay area native, Ms. Stromgren studied Civil Engineering at California State University in Sacramento with other coursework at California State Polytechnics University in Pomona at University. After graduating in 2016, Ms. Stromgren has several years of experience as a staff engineer assisting with quality assurance, compliance, and soil engineering evaluations. Ms. Stromgren is a highly motivated leaner and an EIT, engineer in training. Outside of work, Ms. Stromgren enjoys spending time with her dogs.
Mr. Jack Sullivan attended University of California at Santa Cruz, majoring in planetary and earth science with a concentration in geology. Mr. Sullivan is highly motivated and earned the Map and Move award in field geology. Outside of work, Mr. Sullivan enjoys playing guitar and volleyball. He is also an avid hiker and traveler.
Ms. Kirby has decades of experience providing thorough office management support and customer care. She is a vital in keeping projects on track and handling non-technical aspects of our projects. When not at work, Ms. Kirby enjoys spending time with her dog (Cain), family and friends. She also enjoys heading for the hills or lake front property and gardening.
Mrs. Mantravadi provides part-time support for billing related aspects of our projects.
